Air Stem Question

I had to change out the air stem out on my sensors today in addition to my tire change. Is that normal or did the tire shop do some unnecessary work on my car?

Anytime a tire comes off of a wheel, you must replace the components that corrode. If not, it could cause the valve stem to fail and cause a blowout or worse.
