Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with Easy Fill Tire Alert (if so equipped)
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) monitors tire pressure. A "Tire Pressure Low -- Add Air" warning message will appear in the vehicle information display and the low tire pressure warning light will illuminate when one or more tires are low on pressure and air is needed.
The tire pressures should be checked when the tires are cold. The tires are considered cold after the vehicle has been parked for 3 hours or more or driven less than 1 mile at moderate speeds. Adjust the low tire pressure to the recommended COLD tire pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Information label.
If so equipped, you can check the pressure of all tires (except the spare tire) on the vehicle information display screen. The order of the tire pressure figures displayed on the screen corresponds with the actual order of the tire position.
The TPMS also includes a tire inflation indicator, which provides audible and visual cues that indicate when the tire has reached the recommended COLD tire pressure. After stopping the vehicle, move the shift lever to the PARK position and apply the parking brake. Then place the ignition switch in the ON position, but do not start the engine. After exiting the vehicle, add air to the underinflated tire and within a few seconds the hazard warning lights will start flashing. When the designated tire pressure is reached, the horn will beep once and the hazard warning flashers will stop. Repeat this procedure for any additional underinflated tires. After tire pressures are adjusted, drive the vehicle at speeds above 16 miles per hour. The "Tire Pressure Low -- Add Air" warning message and the low tire pressure warning light will disappear. If the low tire pressure warning light flashes for approximately one minute and then remains on after you turn the ignition ON, the TPMS is not functioning properly. Have the system checked by a NISSAN dealer.
Tire pressure rises and falls depending on the heat caused by the vehicle's operation and the outside temperature. Low outside temperature can lower the temperature of the air inside the tire, which can cause a lower tire inflation pressure. This may cause the low tire pressure warning light to illuminate. If the warning light illuminates in low ambient temperature, check the tire pressure in your tires. Check the tire pressure (including the spare tire) often and always prior to long distance trips.
The Tire and Loading Information label provides important information at a glance. It lists proper tire size and pressure. It also lists the maximum number of occupants for your vehicle and its maximum load capacity. Please check your Owner's Manual for the location of the Tire and Loading Information label on your vehicle.
A final note: The Tire Pressure Monitoring System does NOT detect a sudden drop in tire pressure as with a tire blowout. And it is not a substitute for proper tire maintenance.
