TPMS Sensor Vs No TPMS Sensor System

I just got into a 2012 A6 from my 2008 A4. Just found out during my a tire change that there are no sensors in the wheels. Is this new TPMS system by Audi any better/worse than the previous one?

It uses an indirect system. The direct system transmits data directly to the ecu while the indirect system works based off of wheel rotation. Technically the direct system is a little better.
