Acquired the car in mid-Jan 2014. The TPMS was fine. I took it to my friendly mechanic to get serviced and tire rotation.
TPMS display showed **psi for all 4 tires, but the low pressure icon did not light up on dash.
I have done some long distance driving. According to the manual, if it did not reset, take it to the dealer.

I inquired with the dealer today, and am told the estimate is $65 to initialize the monitoring system so that it can scan and ID the faulty sensor(s); $185 for replacing each of the sensors if they are found low in battery life. Potentially, it is $65 + (4 x $185) plus applicable taxes. That is roughly $900 in the country I reside.
Is it a fair exchange for monitoring the tire pressure of a vehicle?
Somebody in the dealership must be rolling in dough.

Thank you for posting. Yes a 2006 model is about due for new sensors, but you don't have to take it to the dealer. Most independent wheel/tire shops have access to the scan tools and replacement sensors at a fraction of the cost. They will also charge less for the installation than the dealer.
