Broken TPMS Mercury Sable 2009

While running an errand I hear a weird 'clicking' sound. Thinking I have something stuck in the tire, I check and see nothing wrong. I took it to the tire shop the this morning and they told me that the sensor was bouncing around in the wheel. Now can I re-use the sensor still? What can be done to prevent this from happening again?

Road damage is unavoidable, unless you live in a city with no potholes. The sensor will almost surely need to be replaced. If it is no longer attached to them stem then most likely it has been broken.
