One TPMS sensor has failed and I would like to know how specific they are as to year make and model. I have found replacements online and would like to know if other years/models might work before I make a purchase. Also, will the car recognize a new TPMS on its own, or is a visit to the dealer required?

The TPMS sensor for your TL will only work on 2009 - 2012 model TL's. It does not share a fitment with any other Honda/Acura vehicles.

The TPMS relearn procedure is as follows: Inflate all the tires to what is said on the placard. Drive the vehicle above 15 mph for a minimum of 1 minute. The sensor ID's will be learned automatically by the vehicle.
