I asked my Scion dealership about programming new TPMS sensors for my TC's winter setup. They told me new sensors don't need programming, just put them in and drive around. Is this true?

Most imports require the TPMS system to be reset though the OBII tool. It's weird that they told you this. You might try a different dealer.
